Redrawing artwork

Hello everyone! Happy Memorial Day! In this blog i’ll talk about how sometimes you may want to have a do over at your drawings. Believe you me I have redrawn artwork quite a few times.

There may be something I’ll see that just doesn’t look quite right, and before you know it, I’ve started the project over on fresh paper.

Here’s a recent example of a cartoon caricature of the late Tina Turner.

There are two main reasons I wanted to draw this one again.

  • I felt the hair on the first drawing was too dark. Yes, that’s right. I got a bit carried away with the marker.

  • I wanted to tackle the coloring of the skin tone once again.

The picture on the left was the first attempt at the caricature.

I was happy with the end result on the second attempt on the right side.

I also left a link down below to watch the full 15 second time lapsed video

of Tina Turner. (Check it out!)
